The Slit Lamp OCT (SL-OCT) is a high resolution diagnostic instrument for non-contact analysis of morphological structures and distance measurement in the anterior chamber of the eye.

Combining OCT technology from Heidelberg Engineering with a slit lamp greatly facilities numerous diagnostic examinations, from routine screening to refractive surgery and glaucoma monitoring.

Non-contact object imaging replaces complex and difficult contact-based examinations. The non-contact, high resolution scans of the anterior segment of the eye quickly provide the doctor with a general picture of the patient's condition, without time-consuming preparation and follow-up activities. This time-saving can prove very valuable nowadays, when capacities and resources are often stretched.


The scans can be displayed either in grey-scale or false colours.




Space-saving unit with high information content

The new SL-OCT is the ideal complement to conventional slit lamp examinations.

Adapting OCT technology to a Slit Lamp (Haag Streit BD900, Topcon SL-D7) allows the slit lamp to be used additionally for quick and convenient screening of patients during a routine slit lamp examination.

The OCT scan takes place parallel to the position of the slit lamp's slit. This means there is never any doubt about which position of the eye was the subject of the scan of the two-dimensional cross-section.

The eye can be scanned from any angle (360°) simply by turning the slit lamp head.

This does not impair the functionality of the slit lamp. The scan, which takes approximately one second to perform, can be saved and printed out.



Simplest operation with maximum patient comfort

Fast, non-contact anterior chamber analysis with theSL-OCT:

The non-contact OCT technology enables perioperative safety for refractive applications, e.g. LASIK.

Pre- and post-operative examinations can also be performed immediately after surgery without any risk of infection. The natural position of the patient avoids the negative side effects (e.g. incorrect anterior chamber depth) sometimes experienced in the past.

The non-contact examination is pleasent for the patient and prevents the anterior chamber from becoming distorted, as for example can happen when a probe is fitted.

Because the scan width is variable, to a maximum of 15 mm, the entire anterior chamber can be examined from angle to angle in a single scan for the purposes of biometry.

The scan depth is fixed at 7 mm which allows any depth of anterior chamber to be measured.

By selecting smaller scan widths in the range 2 mm, 4 mm or 8 mm, it is possible to view structures of the chamber angle, cornea etc. at high resolution.
